Every baby's first tooth is an exciting milestone.
But before that tiny tooth appears, parents may notice some changes.
Many babies begin teething at around 6 months, although the timing can vary considerably. Some babies get their first tooth earlier, while others may not have one until later.
Common Signs of Teething
🦷 Increased drooling
👶 Wanting to chew on safe objects
🤍 Tender or swollen gums
😴 Changes in sleep or fussiness
🍼 Changes in feeding comfort
Helping Your Baby Feel Comfortable
Try offering a clean, chilled—not frozen—teething ring or gently massaging your baby's gums with a clean finger.
Remember that high fever, significant diarrhea, or a baby who seems seriously unwell should not automatically be blamed on teething. Contact your pediatrician if you're concerned.
And when that first little tooth finally appears?
